Now that I think about it why didn't snape use magic to solve at least part of his ugliness issue that was contributing to him being a bully magnet?

Since he was so gifted?

Until around 3 years ago i was watching everything with subtitles, then i decided that is time to do a step forward, and tried wthout. At the beginning i had to be really concentrated to understand well what they was saying, after every movie my brain was releasing more smoke than a steam train

, but after some time it was natural. Now i enjoy much more movies and don't have the subtitle distraction.

The only saw i saw (lol) was one chapter around probably 12 years ago, the worst seven (this morning i saw se7en

) euro spent in my life, i didn't like it, but i was forced by one friend to go to see it

yes, i m at the level that you describe, i need to concentrate very hard to follow the movies.
I have to win my lazyness and try to remove it.
